  44. to get the real C-Kermit package, install it, and see if you still have
  45. the same problem.  If so, please send a more complete report.  Exactly
  46. what commands did you give?  If you are giving a SET LINE command without
  47. giving a SET MODEM first, then the driver has not been told to open the
  48. device in CLOCAL mode, and so might wait forever for carrier to appear.
  49. In that case, use "set carrier-watch off" prior to "set line", or else
  50. use "set modem type" prior to "set line" to let Linux know you will be
  51. using a modem.  This is described very clearly, I hope, in the manual,
  52. "Using C-Kermit".
